Text Box: Please mark your calendars to keep those dates free from doctor’s appointments. We need to have a 95% attendance rate for our scores to be valid at all our schools. Your support is always greatly appreciated and just being here at Douglass is a pleasure.
Here’s to a wonderful spring time in Woodland,
Jonathon Brunson
Principal
Douglass Middle School
Text Box: Hello everyone, here we are in the 2005-06 school year, and its March already. The fourth grading period is behind us now, which means that we are two thirds of the way through the year. It also means spring fever on campus. What does that mean for you as a parent? Your child has grown a couple of inches since August, teenage infatuations are rapid, staying focused on our studies tends to take a back seat, and spring break is way off in the distance. So we are in for a long haul until that third week in April. With that said this is also a time of year where we need to concentrate on ending strong as well as making plans for next year.
During the month of March, our counselor, Mr. Humphrey, will be visiting the seventh grade classes to go over next year’s courses. We hope you and your eighth grade students enjoyed the process of signing up for high school courses. Text Box: Make sure you note their Open House nights on your calendar (Pioneer HS is May 3rd and Woodlands HS is April 12th, so you may visit the high schools and see their wonderful programs. Speaking of exceptional programs, our Student Leadership Class was selected by the California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) as having one of the Outstanding Student Activities Programs for the 2005-06 school year. Only eight schools were chosen from over 800 in the state. Mr. Wimberg and our ASB President, Carter Reiff, who both lead our program, are to be commended for the fine efforts to improve our school environment through excellent student activities.
We continue to offer the after school homework club, where teachers stay after school on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s to support your student in completing his/her assignments. Our testing period for STAR this year is May 1- 12. Text Box: Message from the Principal
