It’s that time again- standardized testing is here!  Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) testing will take place on the following dates April 25, 26, 28, 29, May 2, 3, 9, and 10.  We will be following the schedules below on testing days.  The SBAC test is taken on the computer and is aligned with Common Core State Standards for English and Math.  Both 7th and 8th grade will test for these subjects.  8th graders will also be taking the CST Science test.  SBAC results will tell us how we are doing as a school and how your child is doing academically.

Academic and Leadership Academy

Pioneer High School (PHS) and UC Davis’ Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) are proud to offer the Academic and Leadership Academy (ALA) once again this summer.


The goals of the summer academy are:


  1. Prepare students for high school English
  2. Make transition from middle to high school and academic advising
  3. Expose students to college requirements and options
  4. Develop students’’ leadership and communication skills
  5. Help students develop their natural talents using the Strengths Quest assessment



This challenging academic experience prepares students for success in high school and sets the foundation for success in college. Applications are available with our counselor, Ms.Quintana and must be returned to her by April 29th. Only fully completed applications will be considered.


*All students who complete and pass the academy will earn 5 high school elective credits.

April 29, 3:00pm – (Application Deadline)

June 20 – July 22, 8:30 pm – 12:30 pm (Academy Dates),

June 13th, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm (Family and Student Orientation Night)




GATE Art Enrichment Classes

offered to GATE students in Grades 4-8.


Something for everyone.


When: March 7 – April 29, with the opportunity to display your art at the Art Show on Friday, May 6st.  The art show will be held in downtown Woodland in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk.   

Students may select ONE class that is appropriate for their grade level.  Students may select to attend class at any site.  Classes are limited in size and enrollment and placement will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

To Enroll your child in the WJUSD GATE Art program, please visit our new class registration website at WJUSDGate.net  to register your child and sign up for one of the many Art classes offered. Please read the information on the home page before clicking on the registration link.  You will need to register on the site prior to being able to login and enroll in a class.  Class enrollment will be open on February 24rd at 6:00 am.  If you do not have internet access, please contact Michele Mitchell at (530) 406-3250 to register your child. 

Please note:  you will need the student Network login ID to register on the site.  (ask your student for this information – it is their initials plus 3 numbers.  example MM123)
